Alston Artists; Arts on High (N Pennines)
Alston Moor sits astride the 'Roof of England', high in the North Pennines. For centuries it has inspired creative minds with its mix of nature and culture. It is a landscape forged from a geology of precious minerals, set in a unique biological environment, forming the watershed for the three great rivers of the North-East - the Tyne, Tees and Wear. 16 artists and makers show how they respond to this unique environment through a programme of open studios, exhibitions and other events in September.
Green Door Annual Art Trail (Kendal & S Cumbria)
Artists living and working in the dramatic landscape of Cumbria welcome visitors into their studios, homes, gardens and even converted barns for a long weekend in September. Green Door Studios in Kendal is also open to the public for these three days.
It is a fantastic opportunity to see art displayed in both professional and domestic settings and to buy affordable work directly from the artists and makers. Entry is free and alongside paintings, prints and sculpture will be ceramics, jewellery, furniture, glass and textiles.
